There is currently a new strain of the Canine Influenza virus – H3N2 – present in Texas. There have been confirmed cases in Houston and Austin. It is important to get your dog vaccinated against the new strain and Crossroads Animal Clinic has the vaccine now available. The vaccine costs $25.00 and requires a booster 2-4 weeks after the initial vaccine. Signs of the virus include a fever, lethargy, and upper respiratory signs such as coughing and sneezing. The virus is most commonly transmitted in areas with large amounts of dogs in small areas such as kennels for boarding and grooming. Crossroads Animal Clinic now requires the new vaccine for all dogs here for boarding, grooming or surgery. If you have any questions please give us a call!
